WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The first Republican debate of the 2016 presidential election featured 10 feisty candidates who came out swinging.

24 million Americans watched on television, making it the highest rated primary debate in history.

So how do voters feel about how it went?

WUSA9's Andrea McCarren interviewed about 20 random people about Thursday night's debate. Even those who identified themselves as Republicans felt the debate was good for the Democrats. In fact, many voters summed it up this way:

"Comedy."

"It was better than the comedy club."

"You look at it for 20 seconds and then you change the channel because it's funny."

Here's how one person described the scene as the ten Republican hopefuls stood side-by-side on the stage at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

"It's kind of craziness. There should not be so many candidates."

The majority of the people interviewed only had one http://scottygotanofficejob.com person that they wanted to talk about: Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

"I feel like it's another one of Donald Trump's reality TV shows."

"We're all the puppeteers, a part of his cast."

"Donald Trump just adds beautiful flair to the equation."

"He likes to brag about his trade deals a lot. That's pretty funny."

"It's kind of funny but I think he's more of an entertainer than a politician."

Perhaps the most memorable moment of the night came when Fox News anchor and debate moderator Megyn Kelly asked Trump about his disparaging comments towards women in the past.

"You've called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals," said Kelly before she was cut off by Trump.

"Only Rosie O'Donnell," remarked Trump, sending a shockwave of appall, laughter and applause throughout the arena.

Some voters expressed frustration that the candidates spent so much time attacking each other, they failed to focus on the issues.

"We're dealing with this United States of America and our security, and our employment, things like that, healthcare issues, we need to be focused in on the real things and not laughing about stupid stuff."

Trump's refusal to rule out a potential third party candidacy has raised eyebrows in both parties.

"I think Donald Trump is going to be an independent and spoil a lot of the races."

"If they are fighting themselves like that, I think the Democrats are going to take over, again."

"Let's bring the party back together because ultimately, by them infighting the way they do, they're giving the election to the Democrats."

Not a single person interviewed by WUSA9 mentioned Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, who was a popular topic and target during Thursday night's GOP debate.

The next Republican debate will take place September 16th at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California.

Infinite Possibility: 5 Authors In Need of Biopics - WordandFilm.com

Geoffrey Chaucer

Oddly, a clear-cut biopic on Chaucer has never been made (in addition to Paul Bettany's rakish performance in "A Knight's Tale"). Below are a couple of various other authors that have yet to obtain theirs:

Joan Didion/Photo Brigitte Lacombe

Vaclav Havel

As the most visible of the Eastern European unorthodox authors, Vaclav Havel invested several years in jail in a number of various terms before thinking the presidency of the newly created Czech Republic in 1993. His very early years are right stuff of legend, and he deserves a more recent as well as much better therapy than the 1943 version that boasted "the real report of the initial American Prisoner of the Japs.".

Kathy Acker.

Kathy Acker's work was satisfied with both virulent objection as well as staunch support from the feminist community, however Acker's literary portrayals of societal taboos and also sex-related violence originated from a life lived to the extreme: Prior to her occupation removed, Acker functioned as a stripper, a secretary, as well as as an adult entertainer, offering her special as well as caustic insight http://typeissexy.com right into a world typically delegated to a voiceless presence.

It appears as though "Paulo Coelho's Best Story" may have come down with another thing: the over-sensualization of a life. While it may hold true that there are the typical amount of hits and misses right here, there's also a specific vexation with which a wide variety of potential life-adapters must deal: Should the film mimic the style of the author that it narrates in an effort to aesthetically mirror a fractured mind, or should it adhere to a reliable formula? Will it be a product of ambition or convention? If you choose to inform a straightforward biographical story through a chronological series of occasions, will it be sufficient for the fanboys which wish to see the 4,000-word sentence of Molly Bloom's soliloquy in some way transposed onto actual occasions? Alternatively, if you lay out Gabriel Garcia Marquez's childhood like an enchanting realist dreamscape, will accusations of pretext certainly adhere to?

Joan Didion.

Among one of the most loved narratives for those experiencing any type of geographical adjustment in their lives, Joan Didion's Bye-bye to All That will finally be getting a movie adjustment. Told by means of recalls, very early reviews describe this chronicle of the life of the precious author of The Alchemist as fizzling, liking to document the advancement of Coelho's inspiration in clich d squabbles of medications as well as sex, with the periodic paper-based tantrum.

Today, with "The End of the Tour" as well as "Paulo Coelho's Best Story," we see the appearance of 2 long-gestating movies that come from a marvelously filled category of movie theater - the writer biopic. Informed over five days, enabling for David Foster Wallace-esque information without straining a bigger audience, "The End of the Excursion" represents a change to an older market for director James Ponsoldt - this adaptation of writer David Lipsky's publication Although obviously You Wind up Ending up being Yourself, chronicling Lipsky's experience joining Wallace on the last leg of journalism excursion for 1996's Infinite Jest, is his very first real Oscar competitor. And, of course, with Jason Segel, that has been getting near-universal acclaim for his portrayal of Wallace, we could be bearing witness to a harbinger of the second duration of his career.

David Foster Wallace seems to be getting his due in excellent type (though not without conflict from his embattled estate). Chaucer's life is ripe for the selecting - from his choice to use the vernacular in his poetry to being a ransomed detainee of war to speculations after his meetings with Boccaccio and also Petrarch, the appropriate filmmaker could possibly attack this from the park.

"The End of the Tour," on the other hand, might simply prove to be a transforming factor in the careers of all parties included. For Jesse Eisenberg, his portrayal of Lipsky reveals an unusual little bit of loosened up humankind for a star so accustomed to dealing with socially unpleasant geniuses, while at the very same time duke it outing excruciating inquiries of mediocrity. Narrating Didion's years in Manhattan prior to her ultimate move to Los Angeles, it makes best biopic material - fulled of love, longing, regret, and also one of the sharpest accounts of nostalgia ever dedicated to paper. While a large amount of documentary job has actually been devoted to his life, Havel continues to be an unseen area for Hollywood; he led an impossibly significant life that confirmed to be one of one of the most telling indications that the artistic reductions of the Soviet Union throughout the Rivalry had lastly pertained to an end.

Jack Greater london.

By the time he really took a seat to do any writing, Jack London had actually currently lived a life excellent to the majority of travelers - from being a homeless sixteen-year-old to cruising a sailboat on the high seas, to taking part in the gold rush before doing a stint as a battle correspondent for the Russo-Japanese War in 1904, London evacuated several life times of encounter that he would later on explicate in his job.
